District Technology Director
Welcome South Holland School District 151 students, parents, and community stake holders to the world of technology! As one of your new district administrators, I am very proud to have opportunity to be part of the District’s commitment to initiate and sustain a platform for excellence in teaching and learning through the use of technology.
When it comes to technology use in education, one of the end objectives must be that the technology devices and their uses become omnipresent and transparent. Technology must be seen as a tool in the teacher’s toolbox, available to use whenever it is most effective for reaching objectives, goals, and standards. Therefore, the goal of technology professional development for teachers and staff must be to not only teach them the technology tools, the resources, the best practices for their grade level and discipline but also to continually coach and support their efforts with technology infusion.
In my hands-on work with teachers and students, I have come to learn that when it comes to teachers and their technology professional development, it is the most effective when the concepts and practices that best work with students are pragmatic to our work with adults. Therefore, all the great methods and strategies that good teachers know already should be applied to technology professional development. This school year with Dr. Hill vision for our district, the IT department has incorporated substantial Professional Development for all district staff. As a district we all must be able to incorporate skill and build on our prior knowledge as it relates to technology and the solutions available.
I will continue to integrate technology pedagogy with in the classroom, schools, and in our business practices. I look forward to another school year serving you as your technology leader, trainer, and partner!
